Virginia Water residents invited to join in the Christmas celebrations

Virginia Water residents are being invited to join in the festive fun as Christmas lights are turned on in the village on Thursday 24 November.

The festive celebrations will begin in earnest when the two winners of the local children’s colouring competition flick the switches of the two 30 foot Christmas trees. The first tree is situated on Station Approach, Virginia Water and the event starts at 5.30pm. Residents and members of the business community can then get into the spirit of the season by joining in with some carol singing followed by a torchlight walk to Station Parade where the second Christmas tree will be lit up.

The evening has been organised by PC Elaine Bryant and PCSO Chris Fitzcosta from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team, who rallied the support of local businesses and residents to help fund the annual event.

Complimentary Christmas refreshments and homemade mince pies or cookies will be available.

PC Bryant said: “Virginia Water’s Christmas tree event has become a much loved tradition in the neighbourhood. There is a real community feel to the event and anyone is welcome to come down and be part of the celebrations. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in one way or another to help make this event successful for the fourth year in a row. Look forward to seeing you there!”
